Eight Ways To Increase Your Energy

Tired? Sluggish? Here are eight ways you can increase your energy without reaching for a cup of coffee.

  • Eat more iron rich foods. The most common nutrient deficiency is caused by the lack of iron. It’s also, the most common cause of fatigue. Examples of food rich in iron include: green and leafy vegetables, organ meats (i.e. liver), beef, chicken, etc. Or, you can take a supplement with iron.
  • Ginseng. This truly is the wonder herb. It enhances your memory, alertness, gives you that important memory boost. Replace coffee with the wonder herb. It’s available in many forms; tablets, powder, tea bags, and roots, try them out and choose which method is best for you.
  • Water. This also, is a common cause of fatigue. Symptoms of dehydration include fatigue, thirst, and dizziness. Don’t let it get this far. Remember it is important to drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water per day. You can achieve this goal by carrying bottle water with you. And, drink out of the water fountain every time you pass it. You can also put water into a 64-ounce container, and vow to drink it everyday.
  • Eat foods rich in B vitamins. These vitamins must be replaced everyday and they are responsible for energy production. Foods rich in B vitamins, includes wheat germ, whole grain breads, whole grain cereals, whole grain pastas, etc. You can also purchase b-complex multivitamins or stress vitamins. You must drink water with these vitamins to absorb correctly, since they are water-soluble.
  • Honey. It has the perfect mixture of fructose and glucose, which will give you an instant energy boost. Add two to three tablespoons of honey to a glass of water. Or, take honey directly from the spoon. Honey is also a rich source of b vitamins and other trace minerals.
  • Morning exercise. Taking a brisk walk in the morning will give you enough energy to jumpstart your day. It will also help you lose weight, stay healthy, and sleep better at night.
  • Ginkgo biloba. Unclog your brain. Ginkgo will give you that mental alertness to help you work efficiently and effectively. It is available in tea, powder, as well as pill form.
  • Magnesium. This mineral can also cause fatigue if you don’t get enough. Lack of this mineral has been linked to everything from migraine headaches to PMS to high blood pressure. Rich sources of this mineral include chocolate, avocados, almonds, spinach, and barley.
